Leopard Systems Innovate with Hyundai Motors at Motor Show

4/04/2007

Mobile technology provider, Leopard Systems, created an innovative marketing solution for Hyundai Motor Company, at the recent Motor Show held at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre in March. Ian Juster, GM of Hyundai Motor Company for Victoria and Tasmania employed the services of Leopard Systems to help relieve one of the major challenges of large public events.

“Motor shows are high-volume environments, whereby our sales team require information such as pricing and detailed specifications on the entire range ‘in an instant’. Leopard Systems came up with a solution to transpose all specifications, options and pricing throughout the range into a handheld PDT. Resulting in ‘on the spot’, accurate data on the entire Hyundai fleet” comments Ian.

Leopard Systems are the market leader in mobile technology and have been servicing Australian businesses including Australia Post, Country Road, Couriers Please and Coles Express for the last decade. The process for Hyundai involved programming the Motorola MC70 to serve as a CRM tool (customer relationship management), by creating database fields for customer enquiries which are stored on the central database for future marketing activities. By tapping the contact details onto the screen using a stylus pen, the data is precisely secured (with no spelling mistakes), centrally managed and is directly linked to each sales professional / region.

An added benefit of the information-rich handheld PDT was its ease of use. In addition to the sales team, Hyundai employed promotional staff for the events duration. By having all product information ‘at hand’, promotional staff were able to provide accurate details on the Hyundai range with no previous industry knowledge or training. In a few simple steps from the easy to navigate touch-screen, promotional staff were able to pass on the information as required to the general public. “In an environment such as Motor Shows, often the public have general enquiries and do not have a real need to speak with dealership staff. This allows the sales team to concentrate on those genuine purchasers and closing deals” said Ian.

“I found the device very easy to use” comments one of Hyundai’s promotional team, “it’s simple and self-explanatory to follow. Prior to this technology we would undertake extensive training and have to rely on our memory! It also adds a credible and professional touch to the company image and avoids human error”.

Hyundai used eight Motorola MC70 handheld PDT’s to service the event. The devices have a long battery life and when not in use, stored on a compact battery cradle.

“We approached Leopard Systems to devise a solution for Hyundai. They came back within the week – with the complete integrated hardware and software system!” says Ian.

Managing Director of Leopard Systems, Alex Koumaras comments “Hyundai are our first automotive client to use this unique approach and have experienced only a small percentage of its capabilities. We specialise in complete end-2-end mobile data integration and using this technology could ultimately influence and improve the supply-chain for the automotive industry. It’s an exciting opportunity for both brands as the pressure for more streamlined efficient business practice takes place”.
