Leopard Systems is pleased to announce that Leopard Cube – our portable and scalable dimensional cubing solution – has been certified ‘legal for trade’ by the National Measurement Institute (NMI); Australia’s regulatory authority on measurement.

The NMI, governed by the Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources, is responsible for verifying measuring instruments in trade to ensure Australian consumers are protected. To achieve NMI accreditation, Leopard Cube was rigorously tested to comply with Australia’s trade measurement regulations.

Leopard Cube consists of a durable tape measure, a mobile scanning device and a powerful cubing application. Precise freight dimensions are detected by scanning the Leopard Cube tape; then the application instantly calculates the correct volumetric weight of any sized freight.

Notably, Leopard Cube’s NMI R 129 certificate for ‘multi-dimensional measuring instruments’ in Australia is identical to the International Standard OIML R 129:2000 of the International Organization of Legal Metrology (OIML). Thus, NMI certification paves the way for Leopard Cube to attain trade authorisation in more countries.

Easy-to-use and designed for all types of freight-handling operations, Leopard Cube calculates correct shipping and storage charges; thus, maximising volumetric revenue, boosting productivity, and optimising delivery and warehouse operations.

“It’s fantastic news that Leopard Cube is recognised as a trade-certified measuring device. If you price your freight services on any measurements taken, such as a tape measure for cubic weight determinations, then, by law in Australia, that measuring tool must be NMI certified. All transport businesses using Leopard Cube to dimension freight and determine shipping costs can rest-assured your measurements are correct and legally compliant,” said Alex Koumaras, Managing Director of Leopard Systems.

With real-time cloud connectivity and seamless data integration, Leopard Cube offers an opex ‘per-scan’ subscription that can flexibly scale from small to large businesses, or across multiple operations with changing freight volumes and seasonal requirements.

Leopard Cube is Leopard Systems’ dimensional tool designed to measure and calculate the cubic weight of any sized item.
